Europe I - Prague

Three months have passed since my first trip over the Atlantic. I figured it was about time to share some words and photos before they are lost on my hard drive forever.

In selecting destinations for my first Europe trip with my fiance, we decided it had to check a few boxes:

  1. Cities she had not visited before (she is more well-traveled than me)
  2. Not too hot of climates for a June-July trip
  3. Good food and rich history
  4. Affordable

Through countless recommendations from friends and family we opted for Prague, Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg. Below you'll find images taken throughout our vacation, all on a Sony A7R III and 28mm f/2 lens - my chosen travel combo of choice for size and perspective.

Somewhere over Greenland.

Landing in Iceland for our connection to Munich.

Some street photography captured around the streets of Prague. The final image is taken inside of the post office, open 24/7 in Prague.

My favorite part of our trip - a food tour through Taste of Prague. We went on a personalized tour with a local guide to five different restaurants, each one was used as a jumping off point for conversation about the history of Prague and the Czech Republic and Communism's impact. Beyond the interesting food and alcohol, the tour set up our entire trip with useful, entertaining and anecdotal history, allowing us to have much better background knowledge of the region as we traveled. Pictured above is our spread at Kantyna butcher palace: roast pork shoulder, dry-aged beef sausage, potato pancakes, beef steak tartare, and pickled vegetables. The meal was accompanied by Pilsner Urquell lager. We couldn't recommend the experience enough.

Karlin, one of our favorite neighborhoods of Prague that also had the best coffee of the trip at MSK.

Scenes from the Vysehrad Fortress.

More images from the streets of Prague: The Dancing House, Prague photographed from the Lesser Tower, and scenes around the Charles Bridge.

Karlin and Maniny: Strawberry Basil Latte at Eska. Tea/coffee stop at MSK. Stopped through Vnitroblock, a creative coworking space with rotating vendors and shops inside, and scenes at the Prague Castle.

Our first Cafe breakfast of the trip at Cafe Savoy, followed by a stop at the hidden Super Tramp Coffee and a trip to the Cubist museum with the lightbulb staircase.

The elevator inside of the Old Town Center clock tower, and views from the top.
More coffee at One Sip. Portrait by Julia.
A piece at DOX.
The Jerusalem Synagogue.

More images to come from Budapest, Vienna, and Salzburg.
